Drug Dealers Caught Living the High Life in Southampton Bust
Amy Willard, 28, from Totton, and Amran Ahmed, 31, of Southampton, faced justice at Southampton Crown Court on June 16 for peddling Class A drugs.
Luxury Lifestyle Built on Cocaine Profits
Ahmed admitted involvement in distributing cocaine and hiding criminal gains. Willard pled guilty to drug distribution and transferring criminal property.
Ahmed was jailed for five years, while Willard got a two-year sentence suspended for two years plus 120 hours of unpaid work.
Police Snatch £14,000 Worth of Designer Goods
On July 27, 2020, cops stopped a hire car outside Ahmed’s Winchester Road home. Both suspects were searched and phones seized. Under a red car, officers found cocaine worth £3,000.
Raids on their homes uncovered £14,000 in luxury items: Moncler jackets, Louboutin shoes, Louis Vuitton belts and bags, gold jewellery, and a Rolex watch.
“Blanco the Barber” Ran Drug Deals with Trip Advisor Reviews
Phone checks revealed Ahmed, nicknamed “Blanco the barber,” asked customers for reviews of his cocaine sales, just like on Trip Advisor.
Bank records showed Ahmed hid income from HMRC since 2017/18 despite huge cash flows. Between Jan 2019 and Aug 2020, £68,492 landed in his accounts. Willard sent him another £41,649.
PC Chael Essery said, “Ahmed and Willard lived a lavish lifestyle funded by the proceeds of cocaine dealing. However, as a result of their crimes, they now face a much less luxurious future.”
Behind the glitz lies a darker world of organised crime, violence, exploitation of vulnerable adults, and kids forced into drug running.
The police vow to crack down on this poison plaguing Southampton. If you know anything about drug dealing in your area, call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
