Boris Johnson Faces Urgent Calls to Quit as Labour Demands Immediate Exit
Starmer Slams Johnson: “He Has to Go”
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has fired a shot across Boris Johnson’s bow, demanding the Prime Minister step down without delay. “He has to go; he can’t stay,” Starmer declared, branding it unfair for Johnson to limp on as caretaker PM.
“His own party has decided it’s time, so they won’t be able to impose him on the country for the foreseeable future,” he added.
Labour Threatens No Confidence Vote
Starmer made it clear Labour is ready to act if the Conservatives refuse to oust Johnson. “If Johnson is not removed, Labour will, in the national interest, bring a no confidence vote — because this can’t go on,” he warned.
“We need a change of government, not just a change at the top. We require a Labour government.”
Johnson Shuffles Cabinet Amid Political Turmoil
Despite mounting pressure and more than 50 MPs quitting the government, Boris Johnson plans to push forward with a round of ministerial appointments today.
- Kit Malthouse named Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster — the Cabinet Office’s most senior minister after the Prime Minister.
- Greg Clark takes over as Levelling Up Secretary, replacing Michael Gove.
- James Cleverly appointed to Secretary role (unspecified in original).
As Johnson reshuffles his team, the political heat only intensifies. Will he survive the storm or be forced out by his detractors?
