Sergeant Speaks Out on Student Safety Drive

“Canterbury welcomes around 40,000 students every year, and we’re determined to keep them safe and crime-free,” said Sergeant John Woodward of Canterbury Community Safety Unit. “For many, this is their first time away from home. That’s why Kent Police works closely with local universities to provide the support they need.

Woodward also revealed plans to roll out the Best Bar None scheme across Canterbury’s nightlife spots. The plan aims to tackle drink spiking and violence against women by enforcing tougher safety measures in all licensed venues.

“We wish all students a safe and successful year. If anyone has concerns, the Community Safety Unit is here to help,” Woodward added.
