Major Search Underway After Person Reported in East London Water

Emergency services scrambled to Limehouse Basin just before midnight on Sunday, December 4th, after a report came in that someone had plunged into the water near Canning Town.

All Hands on Deck: Fire, Police, and Rescue Teams Mobilised

Fire crews from London Fire Brigade arrived with two engines, the specialist search and rescue unit “FRU” with its boat, plus the rescue boat “Fire One.” Met Police officers and the RNLI joined the frantic hunt. A police helicopter equipped with FLIR and nightsun technology was also deployed to scan the water and canal area in the dark.

The coordinated effort saw teams combing waterways and shores in a desperate bid to find the person reported in the water. The operation remains ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
