Major Drugs Bust Rocks Nottingham
Police launched a dramatic series of dawn raids across Nottingham on Thursday, 6 July 2023, smashing a major drug ring involved in pushing Class A substances. Warrants were executed simultaneously at homes in Severn Street, Bulwell, Grafton Court, Radford, and Eltham Close, Aspley.
Cash, Class A Drugs, and Dealing Gear Seized
Officers uncovered huge quantities of heroin and cocaine, along with stacks of cash, multiple mobile phones, and drug-dealing equipment spread across the properties. Anton Sylvester was caught red-handed with pockets stuffed full of cash at Eltham Close.
Investigations revealed Sylvester often used taxis to shuttle between the addresses, coordinating closely with his gang.
Key Clue Leads to Severn Street Stash
A key found at Eltham Close unlocked the Severn Street property, where officers found even more illicit goods. When police stormed Grafton Court, they caught Leon Wilson fleeing the scene, his rucksack packed with Class A drugs and paraphernalia. Inside the house, experts estimated the drugs’ street value at up to £9,800.
The haul at Severn Street was even bigger, with Class A drugs locked inside a safe. Experts reckon the cocaine alone could have sold for a staggering £80,000 on the streets. Tenant Natalie McCann was arrested at the scene.
Sentences Handed Down at Nottingham Crown Court
- Anton Sylvester, 36, was jailed for 10 years after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine, plus possession of criminal property.
- Leon Wilson, 24, received a 3-year sentence for similar offences.
- Natalie McCann, 41, was given a 2-year suspended sentence after admitting possession with intent to supply.
Police say the operation dealt a heavy blow to organised crime in Nottingham.
