Spring COVID Booster Rollout for Vulnerable Brits

People aged five and over who are immunosuppressed will be offered a COVID-19 spring booster about six months after their last jab. The move targets those most at risk ahead of the summer months.

Experts Urge Uptake to Stay Protected

Professor Wei Shen Lim, chair of the JCVI’s COVID-19 Committee, said: “Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself against COVID-19. The spring booster programme gives those at highest risk a chance to top up their immunity.”

He added that this year’s boost will bridge the gap until the full booster programme kicks in during autumn, keeping vulnerable people safeguarded over summer.

Officials Warn Against Complacency

Dr Mary Ramsay, head of immunisation at UKHSA, warned: “COVID-19 is still circulating widely, and we’re seeing more older people admitted to hospital. Those at highest risk must not become complacent.”

She urged all eligible Brits to get their booster when the programme launches. Specific details will be announced by the NHS in due course.
