Planning to hit Southend this Bank Holiday? Brace yourself for a heavy police presence. Officers will be patrolling all over the city to keep everyone safe and sound.

Enjoy the Fun, But Play Safe

The message from cops is clear: have a blast, but don’t put yourself or others in harm’s way. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, expect officers to be out in force day and night. Anti-social behaviour or crime won’t be tolerated – offenders will face tough action.

Unplanned Bike and Car Gatherings Stir Up Concerns

Police are on alert for two unofficial meet-ups set to kick off on Easter Monday, April 10. Southend Council has stepped in, directing motorbikes to park at the Eastern Esplanade car park — formerly the Gas Works. Meanwhile, a separate car cruise might take place nearby in the evening.

Dispersal Order Means Business

To keep things in check, a dispersal order is now in place. This gives officers power to order anyone suspected of anti-social behaviour or reckless driving to clear the area – including Eastern Esplanade, Marine Parade, Western Esplanade, Southchurch Avenue, and Victoria Road.

  • The order runs from 9am on Monday 10 April until 3am Tuesday 11 April.
  • Refuse to leave when asked? You risk arrest.

Chief Superintendent Andy Waldie explained the move:

“We want everyone enjoying Southend on Monday to do just that — enjoy themselves without feeling alarmed or harassed. Southend’s great for bikers and car lovers, and most add to the vibe. But past events have sparked disorder and anti-social acts. “If you’re causing trouble, we won’t tolerate it. Refuse to leave when asked and you’re likely to be arrested. Crimes, harassment, or distress in our city will be dealt with firmly.”

He added:

“We’ve got a solid policing plan in place, so expect to see officers around ready to handle any hotspots. If you’ve got concerns, talk to them. They’re not here to ruin your fun, but to keep everyone safe this Bank Holiday weekend.”
