Pregnant Mum and Baby Murdered in Thornton Heath: Police Hunt Man Seen on CCTV
Detectives are back on the streets of Thornton Heath, desperate to find a man caught on CCTV near the scene of a double murder. Kelly Mary Fauvrelle, 26, and her unborn baby son Riley were killed in a shocking attack on Raymead Avenue. This week marks one week since the tragedy, and police want locals to come forward with any info.
Key Suspect Spotted Near Crime Scene
Officers are urgently trying to ID a man seen wandering near Kelly’s home just before the attack at around 3.15am on June 29, then running away shortly after. Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman said:
“Although it was early hours, the area around Kelly’s home is usually busy. I believe crucial witnesses were nearby and I want to hear from them now.”
The police will be canvassing the neighbourhood between 3am and 4am on Saturday, July 6, speaking to anyone out and about late on Friday or early Saturday morning.
What Police Want From You
The CCTV image isn’t crystal clear, but officers believe someone will recognise the man from his build and mannerisms. DCI Norman urged:
“If you think you know this man, or remember seeing someone like him in Thornton Heath, Croydon or beyond on that night, please get in touch. Even if you saw him on a bus, in a shop, takeaway, or driving him as a minicab passenger, your tip could crack this case.”
Police are also compiling a full picture of Kelly’s life and need anyone who knew her and hasn’t spoken yet to come forward.
The Horrific Crime and Ongoing Investigation
The attack left Kelly dead at the scene and her baby boy Riley, born at the scene by ambulance crews, sadly passed away days later in hospital. Kelly was eight months pregnant, and her family, present during the attack, did not see the attacker.
Police arrested two men aged 37 and 29 but released one with no further action. The other man is on bail until August.
DCI Norman confirmed forensic work will continue at the family home for at least a week. No murder weapon has been found yet, and the investigation remains open about whether Kelly knew her attacker.
