Man Stabbed in Shocking Stratford Canal Robbery

Detectives in Newham are hunting two men who stabbed a 35-year-old man during a brutal robbery along a canal path.

Victim Attacked for Refusing to Hand Over Phone

The victim was walking near Stratford High Street/Bow Flyover on Thursday, 5 January, around 8.15pm when two suspects confronted him. They demanded his phone. When he refused and tried to back away, they attacked him with multiple stab wounds.

The attackers fled with his phone, leaving the victim fighting for his life. He was rushed to an east London hospital by the London Ambulance Service. His injuries were initially deemed life-threatening, but thankfully he is expected to recover.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

“There were a number of people cycling and walking alongside the canal at the time,” said Detective Constable John Kalinzi of the Met’s North East Command. “I’m keen to hear from anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to police. We must catch these suspects who inflicted potentially fatal injuries just to steal a phone.”

“If you can help, please contact me.”
