PC Terrence Ellis has been sacked after a brutal four-day misconduct hearing over abusive and sexist behaviour towards female colleagues.
PC Ellis Faces Damning Misconduct Charges
Stationed with the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Command, PC Ellis was grilled over allegations of abusing his authority and showing disrespect. In September 2022, he reportedly used threatening and insulting language against one female colleague and made blatant sexist and misogynistic remarks to another.
Suspended Then Shown the Door
Following the complaint, Ellis was suspended immediately. After a thorough review of the evidence, the hearing panel dismissed him without notice on Friday, 19 July.
Police Boss Condemns ‘Disgusting’ Behaviour
Chief Superintendent Andy Burton, who oversees the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Command, blasted Ellis’s conduct. He said:
“PC Ellis’s disgusting behaviour and language has led to his dismissal, a decision I fully support and welcome. This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable in the organisation and I hope this outcome demonstrates how we are rooting out those who do not demonstrate the standards we demand from our officers.”
He also praised the bravery of officers who stood up against Ellis’s misconduct.
Barred from Policing for Good
Ellis has now been placed on the College of Policing’s barred list. This means he can never work again for the police, Police and Crime Commissioners, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
His career is officially over.
