Coventry Man Jailed for Decade-Long Child Rape and Abuse
A Coventry man has been found guilty of raping and indecently assaulting a young girl over more than ten years, West Midlands Police have confirmed.
Brutal Abuse Started in Childhood
Brendan Dalton terrorised his victim between 2002 and 2013. The abuse began when the girl was just a child and took place at a Coventry home. He subjected her to horrific attacks multiple times over the years.
Online Sting Nets Paedophile
In 2022, Dalton thought he was chatting online with a 13-year-old girl – but it was a police decoy. Coventry Local Policing officers swooped and arrested him.
A search of Dalton’s phone uncovered indecent images of children, including several Category A images – the worst kind.
Convicted and Facing Sentence
- Dalton, 57, from Coundon Road, faced charges of rape, indecent assault, making indecent images, and sexual communication with a child.
- He was found guilty at 1 Crown Court on 2 October.
- Dalton remains in custody and is due for sentencing on 5 December.
He was identified after she bravely came forward to tell her story,” confirmed West Midlands Police.
