Early Monday drama unfolded at Hong Kong International Airport when an Emirates SkyCargo flight, operated by Turkish carrier Air ACT, crashed into the sea after veering off the runway. Flight EK9788, a Boeing 747-481 registered TC-ACF, had just touched down from Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport at 3:53 a.m. when disaster struck.

Plunge into the Water — and Tragedy Strikes

The massive jet veered sharply left mid-landing roll, smashed through the seawall, and ended up partially submerged in water. Onboard were four crew members — all escaped unscathed. But the aircraft hit a ground-service vehicle sitting trackside, shearing off one of its wheels.

Tragically, two airport workers inside the vehicle remain unaccounted for. Rescue teams are frantically searching by boat and helicopter. Recent updates confirm one man has died, while the other has been rushed to North Lantau Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Chaos on the Tarmac

  • Flight tracker data shows the jet’s dramatic swerve left after touchdown
  • A Cathay Pacific plane lining up behind aborted its landing in the nick of time
  • Hong Kong Airport Authority has shut the north runway as investigators clear wreckage and assess damage

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Aviation experts and emergency crews remain on high alert at the scene.
