Pipe Bomb Thrown at Belfast Home Sparks Midnight Evacuation

Late Sunday night, chaos hit Havana Court in north Belfast when a pipe bomb was hurled at a house. Police rushed to the scene and found the deadly device hidden under a car.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) warned the bomb was “viable” and could have caused massive damage, especially since it was so close to a petrol tank.

Residents Flee as Bomb Disposal Teams Hunt for Safety

Several homes were evacuated overnight while bomb squads carefully made the area safe. PSNI Inspector Curry said:

“The item was deemed to be a viable pipe bomb and was made safe before being removed for further examination. If it had exploded under the car, the consequences could have been devastating.”

Motorists and locals were told to steer clear of the area during the operation. A nearby community centre opened its doors to support those forced out of their homes.

PSNI Issues Grave Warning, Urges Public to Stay Alert

Just before 1am, PSNI confirmed the ongoing security alert:

“Police are at the scene of a security alert in the Havana Court area of north Belfast following the discovery of a suspicious object. Residents are being evacuated, and road users and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.”

Anger in the Streets Over Bomb Incident

“Who’s car was it? This government keeps secrets just for the sake of it or to hide their incompetence,” said one worried local.
