Exeter Stalker Jailed After Terrorising Woman at Home

A twisted stalker who made his victim feel scared in her own home has finally been locked up. Andrew Giles, 54, from Exeter, repeatedly showed up at the woman’s house, often multiple times a day, leaving her living in fear.

Spooked Victim Forced to Flee Own Home

Giles pleaded guilty at Exeter Crown Court to stalking involving fear of violence or serious alarm. He was sentenced to eight months behind bars and slapped with a restraining order preventing any contact with the victim or her property.

From September to November last year, Giles turned up uninvited over and over again — making creepy comments and lingering outside. On one occasion, he even held a parcel awkwardly over his crotch inside the victim’s home, turning everyone’s stomach.

Strange Behaviour Escalates Into Full-Blown Terror

  • Giles showed up unannounced multiple times daily, prompting the victim’s landlord to install extra locks and a security camera.
  • He made inappropriate remarks about the victim’s body and his underwear while inside her home.
  • The stalker loomed outside when the victim returned from work or gym, clearly tracking her movements.
  • Terrified housemates were woken by him banging and shouting at the door in the early hours.
  • The stalking got so bad the victim had to book an Airbnb to feel safe.

Bail Breach Lands Giles Straight in Custody

Despite bail conditions banning him from the property, Giles brazenly returned the day of his release. Police arrested him again, and he admitted during questioning that he wanted sex with the victim and claimed he was “in love” and wanted to move to Florida with her.

PC Charlotte Cameron branded Giles “dangerous” and praised the victim and her housemates for their bravery. “Thanks to their courage, Giles was swiftly remanded in prison after breaching his bail,” she said.
