President Donald Trump personally held talks with Kurdish leaders on Sunday night, discussing the brewing conflict. Meanwhile, the CIA is reportedly gearing up to arm these Kurdish forces to ignite a larger rebellion inside Iran, CNN reveals.
Kurds: Iran’s Toughest Opposition
These Kurdish militias are the most organised force opposing Iran’s fractured regime. With thousands of battle-hardened warriors seasoned from clashes against ISIS, their entry could seriously destabilise Tehran’s hold and drag Iraq deeper into conflict.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said: “None of our objectives are premised on the support or the arming of any particular force. So, what other entities may be doing, we’re aware of, but our objectives aren’t centred on that.”
