Firefighters Race to High-Rise Blaze
Five fire engines and around 25 firefighters stormed the scene on March 7 after a fire broke out in the tower block flat. The swift response prevented a potential disaster in the towering residential building.
Woman Escapes Before Firefighters Arrive
The female occupant managed to flee the flat before the London Fire Brigade got there. She was treated on the spot by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.
“Five fire engines and around 25 firefighters responded to a fire on Saffron Square, Croydon,” a London Fire Brigade spokesperson said. “The fire occurred in a studio flat on the 16th floor. The woman left the flat before the Brigade arrived and was treated on scene by paramedics.”
