The M25 clockwise is slammed shut with severe delays after a major pile-up early this morning near the M11. Three HGVs crashed around 3am, leaving the motorway closed between junctions 27 and 28 for essential repairs.
Crushed Lorry and Diesel Spill Chaos
A passing driver filmed the wreckage, showing the red cab of one lorry mangled and twisted. The condition of the other two trucks remains unknown. Emergency crews are still on scene, but there’s no update yet on injuries.
The crash left a large diesel spill stretching across three lanes, making the road unsafe. Crews have cleared the vehicles, but the M25 will stay shut through the afternoon for resurfacing work.
Massive Delays and Diversions in Place
National Highways warns: “This serious collision means the M25 will be closed all afternoon. If you’re heading this way, expect delays and plan your journey accordingly.”
Essex Police, fire crews, and traffic officers are managing the scene and diversion routes. Drivers are advised to follow the hollow triangle diversion symbol:
- Leave at junction 27 for the M11
- Take the A406
- Then the A12
- Rejoin the M25 at junction 28
Queuing motorists caught inside the closure were slowly released past the crash site via lane one, but long delays remain throughout the morning rush.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing travel nightmare.
