A woman has admitted stabbing another woman in broad daylight outside an Asda in Derby.
Stabbing Sparks Police Hunt
Armed officers rushed to Arleston Lane, Sinfin, after reports of a stabbing just after 8:35pm on Wednesday, 5 November. The victim, a woman in her 40s, suffered a non-life-threatening wrist injury. A bystander caught the attack on their phone and flagged down police. Using the footage, officers identified the suspect as Lisa Kelly.
Suspect Arrested After Public Appeal
Kelly vanished after the attack but was tracked down and arrested on Saturday, 8 November. In questioning, she admitted meeting the victim earlier that day while they drank together. The pair clashed again near a cash machine by Asda. Kelly claimed the victim’s dog bit her, after which she ran into the store to ask staff to call the police. But then Kelly stole a pack of knives from the supermarket and returned outside, supposedly to ‘scare’ the victim. Instead, she slashed the woman’s wrist.
Victim Speaks Out
“Directly after this incident my anxiety increased to the point that I was not able to go out at all, and I was unable to sleep,”
the victim said.
Kelly Faces Justice
The 40-year-old, from Burton Road, Derby, was charged with Section 20 GBH without intent, theft, and possession of a bladed article in public. She pleaded guilty at Derby Crown Court on 8 April and awaits sentencing on 28 May.
