Two men have been remanded in custody after a firearm was discharged at a Hove pub, leaving a man in his 30s with minor injuries. Carlos Cassidy, alias Martin Bennett, and Memis Kalmis appeared in court charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause violence.

Armed Police Respond to Late-Night Incident

The shooting took place on the evening of 4 April, prompting emergency services and armed officers to rush to the scene at around 10 pm. A major police investigation was launched, resulting in five arrests made between 5 and 12 April.

Ongoing Probe and Court Action

While Cassidy and Kalmis remain in custody, others arrested have been released on bail as inquiries continue. Police stress the shooting is an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community. Detectives have appealed for witnesses or information to aid the probe.
