A major murder investigation is underway after 82-year-old Elizabeth Colligan was found dead in Glasgow’s Carntyne area. Emergency services raced to Cardowan Road in the early hours yesterday but sadly, Elizabeth was pronounced dead at the scene around 4am.
Suspect on the Run: Grant McKinnon Sought by Police
Police have named and released a photo of the prime suspect, 30-year-old Grant McKinnon, who remains at large. The public is urged not to approach him as the hunt intensifies.
Police Follow Positive Leads in Ongoing Investigation
- Officers are canvassing local homes and reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
- Detectives want anyone who witnessed or heard anything around 4am on Saturday, 18 April 2026 to come forward.
“Our thoughts remain with Elizabeth’s family and friends during this very difficult time,” said Detective Inspector Gordon Walker. “We are following a positive line of enquiry and conducting door-to-door enquiries alongside CCTV reviews. We especially want to hear from anyone with information from the early hours of 18 April.”
Chief Inspector Jon Watters added: “We understand the local community’s concerns. There will be increased police presence in the coming days. Anyone with information or worries should not hesitate to speak to officers.”
