Following last Friday’s report of a rape in Epsom during the early hours of Saturday, 11 April, Surrey Police have released a fresh update.
Increased Police Presence to Reassure Locals
Officers stayed in Epsom over the weekend, boosting patrols on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings to focus on women’s safety. They’ve been engaging with the community, answering questions and offering reassurance.
No Evidence Found Yet, Investigation Ongoing
The force has been carrying out extensive inquiries, including:
- Reviewing vast amounts of CCTV footage
- Conducting forensic investigations
- House-to-house enquiries
So far, no evidence has been found to support the reported offence, but investigations continue.
Police Address Protests and Public Order
Police are aware of groups organising gatherings in response to the report. They vow to work with protestors, partners, and the local community to ensure all voices are heard. “While we respect the right to lawful protest, criminal acts and public disorder won’t be tolerated,” the statement reads. “We will take strong action against anyone committing offences.” Surrey Police promise to provide regular updates as the investigation unfolds.
