Police are appealing for the drivers of three vehicles to come forward after a two-car collision near Gatwick Airport, as officers continue their investigation into the incident. The crash, involving a black Ford and a black Mercedes, happened at the junction of Beehive Ring Road and Gatwick Road at around 3.55pm on Wednesday 16 July.
Witnesses sought
Investigating officers believe the drivers of three vehicles may have witnessed the collision and are urging them to get in touch. Police are particularly keen to speak to the drivers of:
- A blue Mini with white stripes
- A white SUV
- A white Caddy-style van
Officers believe they may have valuable information that could help establish exactly what happened.
Man arrested
As part of the investigation, a 55-year-old man from East Grinstead was arrested on suspicion of:
- Drink-driving
- Uninsured driving
- Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place
He has since been released on bail until 17 September while enquiries continue.
Appeal for information
Sussex Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has relevant dashcam footage, to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to email [email protected], quoting serial 1197 of 16/07. The investigation remains ongoing. As criminal proceedings have not concluded, the arrested man should not be considered guilty of any offence unless proven in court.
