Detectives are appealing for information following the unexplained death of a 60-year-old woman whose body was discovered at her home in Croydon. Nicole Beling, from Croydon, was found dead at a property in Dittoncroft Close after she had been reported missing by a family member. Police were called at around 12.05am on Friday, July 17, after concerns were raised for Nicole’s welfare. She was graded as a high-risk Missing Person" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">missing person and officers attended her home later that morning as part of enquiries into her disappearance. Following a search of the property, officers discovered her body. Nicole was pronounced dead at the scene.
Man arrested on suspicion of murder
A 61-year-old man was arrested at the property on suspicion of murder on Friday, July 17. He was later released under investigation. Police said the same man was arrested again on Saturday, August 1, and has since been released on bail while enquiries continue. Despite the arrests, officers have stressed that a formal murder investigation has not been launched at this stage. Nicole’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and her cause of death remains under investigation. Her family are being supported by specialist officers.
‘We are keeping an open mind’
Specialist detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell said: “A formal murder investigation has not been launched at this time and we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding Nicole’s sad death. “We want to hear from anyone who knew Nicole or may have information that could assist the investigation – and help us find answers for her family. “My thoughts remain with Nicole’s family and loved ones.” Police are urging anyone who knew Nicole, saw her before her death or has information that could assist investigators to come forward.
