A drug dealer who tried to flush cocaine and heroin down a toilet as police raided a property in Trowbridge has been jailed for more than five years.
Christopher Mounty was arrested after officers executed a drugs warrant at an address in Yerbury Street, Trowbridge, in April.
Police discovered 27 grams of cocaine, 2.5 grams of crack cocaine and 55 grams of heroin during the operation.
Officers said Mounty attempted to dispose of the Class A drugs by flushing them down a toilet, but police managed to retrieve them before they disappeared.
The 43-year-old, of Lamplighters Walk, Trowbridge, was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.
Jailed for five years and seven months
Mounty appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Monday, 24 August, where he was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison.
PC Oliver Dury, from the Neighbourhood Tasking Team, said the sentence sent “a clear message that drug dealing will not be tolerated in our communities”.
He said the supply of Class A drugs caused significant harm to users and communities, including anti-social behaviour, violence and exploitation associated with the drugs trade.
PC Dury added that neighbourhood officers would continue working to disrupt illegal drug supply and bring those responsible before the courts.
Police have also urged residents to continue reporting suspected drug dealing, saying information from the public can help officers build a picture of criminal activity and take action.
