Thousands in Damage as Spray Paint Ruins Headstones
Police confirm that spray paint was used to damage around 15 headstones overnight, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage. Officers are currently investigating and have stepped up patrols in the area.
Heroes Step In to Restore Respect
Volunteers from the Guild of Master Stonemasons rushed to the scene, professionally cleaning and restoring the worst-hit headstones, including applying new lettering to preserve the memory of those lost.
A specialist monumental mason is also set to assess the site, ensuring well-meaning public attempts to clean up don’t cause further damage.

“Gravestones in Ann’s Hill Cemetery have again been sprayed with paint overnight,” said Hampshire Police. “We are investigating and strongly urge anyone with information to come forward. Your details will be kept confidential.”
