Grandma Left Fighting for Life After Horrific Gun Attack in Coleraine
Sally Cummins, 61, remains in critical condition after a gang blasted her Coleraine home with shotgun and handgun fire in early October. Police believe she was not the target – the attack is linked to feared North Antrim UDA criminals.
Drugs Link and Sudden Death Under Investigation
Detectives are probing a possible connection between the shooting and the sudden death of a woman at the same Bushmills Road property just weeks before. A drug-related motive is suspected.
Reward Offered for Information and Weapons Recovery
PSNI Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell revealed a substantial Crimestoppers reward is on offer for details that lead to arrests or recovery of the weapons used. He confirmed the victim is making progress but still remains hospitalised.
“I am treating this as attempted murder,” said Mr Caldwell. “I hope the reward encourages vital information to come forward.”
Attackers Fired Over 10 Shots Into House While Victim Was Inside
Police say the gang of three men used both a shotgun and handgun, firing over ten rounds that smashed numerous windows. Sally was asleep downstairs in a chair when she was shot in the head.
“These reckless thugs don’t care who they hurt. It’s about ego, power and money,” Mr Caldwell said. “It beggars belief they showed zero regard for this vulnerable woman’s life.”
Officers are examining CCTV footage and pursuing all leads in a bid to bring the killers to justice.
