Tragedy on Upper Highgate Street as child dies in horror crash
Rapid Response to Devastating Collision
West Midlands Ambulance Service was scrambled at 9.45pm to Upper Highgate Street. An ambulance hit the scene within three minutes, quickly joined by two more ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor, and two critical care paramedics.
Child Killed, Others Seriously Injured
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service revealed the grim scene: “On arrival, crews found a car had collided with four pedestrians.”
“A child, female, was in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support.
“Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, she could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.”
More Victims Taken to Hospital
Two victims were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A fourth child was checked over and discharged at the scene with no injuries.
