Woman Killed in Horrific West End Crash
Tragedy struck West End, Southampton, late on 10 December after a grisly collision left a local woman dead. At 10.47pm, a grey BMW slammed into a pedestrian on the pavement at the junction of West End High Street and Lower New Road.
The chaos didn’t stop there. The BMW then smashed into a parked black Ford Fiesta, sending the car crashing into a nearby building.
Victim Dies at the Scene
The pedestrian, a woman in her 50s from Southampton, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have informed her grieving family and are providing specialist support.
Driver Arrested on Multiple Charges
A 28-year-old man from Southampton was arrested shortly after the crash. He faces serious charges, including causing death by dangerous driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and driving while unfit.
The suspect remains in police custody as enquiries continue. Police have sealed off the area as they gather evidence.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Officers are urging anyone who saw a grey BMW in West End just before the collision to come forward. If you have CCTV, dash-cam, mobile phone footage, or Ring doorbell clips of the car or incident, your help could be crucial.
Inspector Andy Tester of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the woman who has died and her family at this difficult time.
