Blaze Devours Seafront Restaurant in Dead of Night
Firefighters rushed to a roaring fire on Marine Parade at 2:30am after multiple calls reported flames engulfing the popular restaurant. On arrival, crews found the ground and first floors fully ablaze, with the roof half-consumed by fire.

Teams battled the inferno using hose reel jets and main lines, dousing the flames by 4:30am. The cause of the blaze remains unknown, with an investigation set for this morning.
Future Flats Above Wimpy Now in Doubt
Last year, Southend Council gave the green light to convert the floors above the Wimpy into nine new flats. Essex Police are still at the scene as inquiries continue.
