Tragic Crash in Blakedown Leaves One Dead, Several Injured
West Midlands Ambulance Service rushed to Birmingham Road, Blakedown, at 9.10pm after a serious collision. They deployed three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor, a critical care paramedic, a Mercia Accident Rescue Service (MARS) responder, and the Air Ambulance Critical Care Car from Cosford.
Driver Dies Despite Lifesaving Efforts
A service spokeswoman revealed, “On arrival, crews found the driver of the first car, a man, in critical condition. Firefighters were giving CPR when ambulance staff quickly took over with advanced life support. Sadly, despite all efforts, he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
Multiple Injuries Treated at Hospitals
- The second driver, also a man, suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, with MERIT medics continuing treatment en route.
- A third patient, a woman, was treated for potentially serious injuries and taken to Russells Hall Hospital.
- A second woman involved was assessed and taken to the same hospital for further checks.
Emergency teams worked through the night to save lives and investigate the cause of the crash.
