Tragic High Street Crash Claims Life of 81-Year-Old Brigid O’Hara Murray
Just after 3pm on January 16, tragedy struck on High Street when a lorry collided with pedestrian Brigid O’Hara Murray, 81, from Totland. She died at the scene of the accident.
Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute
Specialist officers working with the family have shared a touching tribute. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved sister Brigid,” they said.
“Her death leaves a huge void in our lives. She was adored as a sister, aunt, and cousin. She’s also fondly remembered by many friends and colleagues here on the island, across the UK, and worldwide.”

Driver Arrested, Investigation Underway
A 24-year-old man from Bembridge was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has since been released under investigation.
