A dramatic video has surfaced on social media showing armed police officers stopping a vehicle on Wandsworth Bridge using a spike trap. The incident, which occurred on August 8th, has been widely shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), capturing the tense moments as officers attempted to apprehend the driver of a white car.
The footage shows several police officers surrounding the vehicle, physically trying to remove the driver from inside. Despite their efforts, the driver remains in the car, prompting officers to deploy a spike trap in front of the vehicle. Two officers with tasers are seen approaching both the driver’s side and passenger window, though it is unclear if the tasers were discharged.
After the spike trap was laid down, the driver attempted to flee, driving forward and bursting the car’s tires on the spikes. The white car then rams into another vehicle in front of it, pushing it onto the pavement as it tries to escape. However, the vehicle doesn’t get far and is soon swarmed by officers who successfully remove the driver from the car.
The video also shows a significant police presence at the scene, with multiple police cars blocking the road. One officer is seen checking on the person recording the video from a nearby car, asking if they were okay.
