Middle Road Shut After Crash Slams Traffic on Isle of Wight
Chaos erupted on Middle Road, Isle of Wight, this Thursday morning after a two-vehicle collision near Pump Lane. Police swiftly closed the road at around 8:30am, bringing rush-hour journeys to a halt.
Bus Services Hit by Roadblock
Local bus operator Southern Vectis confirmed their Route 7 was caught in the mess. Some journeys to Calbourne were rerouted via Elm Lane, Forest Road, and Gunville. A spokesman said:
“Unfortunately, we had to cancel the 09:25 Route 7 Alum Bay to Yarmouth service. The designated bus couldn’t turn due to congestion on Middle Road.”
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Police and emergency crews tackled the incident, which involved a Mercedes and another vehicle – reportedly trapping the bus in the closure. One person was rushed to hospital but injuries are believed to be minor.
Road Reopens, Delays Clear
By 9:33am, Middle Road was reopened, with traffic returning to normal. Authorities are investigating the exact cause, but the swift response eased the morning’s travel chaos.
