Toy Library Relaunch Set to Thrill Brighton Families

Brighton & Hove is buzzing as the city’s beloved toy library makes a triumphant return! On Tuesday, April 4th, Whitehawk Library will host a spectacular relaunch event, featuring two showings of the exciting ‘Toy Quest’ at 10.30am and 2.30pm. Families can expect fun-filled performances and refreshments to keep the little ones happy.

More Toys, More Locations, More Fun

The Whitehawk Library at 179A Whitehawk Road, Brighton BN2 5FL remains the toy library’s heart. But the service is expanding! A smaller toy stash is now available at Coldean Library, plus a brand-new satellite toy library has popped up in Portslade. This means even more families can join in the fun without travelling far.

Toys That Teach and Delight

This fantastic free service offers over 400 high-quality toys and games designed to educate and entertain. The collection champions diversity and promotes an anti-bias approach to play and early childhood development, reflecting real family life.

At a time when many are feeling the pinch from the cost of living crisis, the toy library is a priceless lifeline that keeps kids engaged and families connected.

Exciting Events and Play Sessions for Easter

To celebrate the return, Brighton libraries have teamed up with Bigfoot Arts Education and Early Childhood Project, backed by the Arts Council, to bring the interactive ‘Toy Quest’ performance exclusively to the launch day. Kids get to help save lost toys in an adventure that will then tour local libraries over the Easter holidays.

Following the show, Whitehawk Library will host six weekly Early Years play sessions to encourage parent-child interaction, plus a string of ‘Stay & Play’ events across community libraries.

Don’t miss the relaunch on April 4th – a perfect day out for parents, carers, and children craving fun, learning, and fresh toys to borrow for free!
