Camber Sands Parking Hits Visitors with £30 Flat Fee
From this Saturday, beachgoers at Camber Sands will have to shell out a flat £30 to park at the council-run car park. Rother District Council introduced the charge to cover the “massive costs” of managing the busy seaside hotspot.
Discounted Rates for Late Arrivals and Limited-Time Parking
The new fees apply to the Central car park, with a cut-price £15 charge for drivers arriving after 3pm. Meanwhile, the Putting Green car park is also getting a £30 fee this season only, as it’s set to be closed for a new housing project. The council’s cabinet gave the nod to these changes just last Monday.
Higher Hourly Charges and Steeper Permits
- Hourly parking at Camber Sands Western car park rises to £4 per hour.
- Parking for six hours or more costs a flat £20.
- New weekly, monthly, and three-month permits will be available for unlimited use at a single off-street car park.
- Annual permits jump sharply from £350 to £500.
The council says these moves aim to balance visitor convenience with covering operational expenses at the popular beach.
