Massive Animal Rescue in Sussex: 54 Dogs and 2 Horses Seized

Sussex Police’s Rural Crime Team, teaming up with the RSPCA and local officials, swooped on a Hambrook, Chichester property and seized 54 dogs and two horses. The animals were found living in shockingly poor conditions.

Puppies as Young as One Day Old Found in Neglect

During the raid on Tuesday, April 18, officers uncovered a heartbreaking scene. Puppies barely a day old and two horses were discovered suffering from neglect. A vet at the scene confirmed the animals were not getting the care they needed, prompting immediate seizure.

Investigation Underway: Suspect to be Questioned

A 57-year-old man linked to the property is set to be voluntarily interviewed within the next week over suspected animal welfare offences. The probe is still ongoing as authorities dig deeper.

Sergeant Tom Carter, Rural Crime Team, said: “We seized a large quantity of dogs and two horses in poor condition with a variety of untreated medical conditions. These are now being cared for while we carry out a thorough investigation.”
