Woman Killed in Shocking Hackney Crash with HGV Recovery Truck

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are hunting for witnesses after a fatal collision in Hackney.

Tragic Scene on Mare Street

Police rushed to Mare Street at the junction with Graham Road, E8, just after 10.25am on Thursday, 11 July, following reports of a serious crash. A female pedestrian, believed to be in her mid-60s, was found critically injured after being struck by an HGV recovery vehicle. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

Driver Cooperating, No Arrests Yet

The driver of the recovery vehicle stayed at the scene and is fully assisting officers with their investigation. So far, no arrests have been made. Police have informed the victim’s next of kin.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

A post-mortem examination will take place soon, with formal identification still pending. Detectives are urging anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam footage to come forward.
