Man Attacked After Trying to Break Up Fight Outside Salisbury Hotel

A shocking assault took place outside the Cathedral Hotel on Milford Street at around 2.15am on 20 February 2022.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was walking home from a night out when he stepped in to help a woman trying to break up a fight between two men.

Instead of thanks, he was brutally attacked by one of the men, suffering facial injuries that needed medical treatment.

Police Seek Key Witnesses and Suspects

Salisbury CID has released CCTV images of a man they want to question about the assault. They are also keen to speak to the other man and woman present at the scene.

  • The second man is described as white, around 18 years old, wearing a green checked shirt.
  • The woman is also white, about the same age, with long black hair.

Detective Constable Lou Poole said: “This was a nasty, unprovoked assault on a man who had simply tried to assist a woman who asked him to help intervene in another argument. He was left with serious injuries and we need to identify all three of these people who will hopefully be able to assist with our enquiries.”
