Two Arrested After Brutal Attack on Met Officer and High-Speed Crash
Two men were arrested last Friday, 11 December, over a shocking hit-and-run that saw a Met officer punched and kicked during his arrest attempt. Both suspects now face multiple charges, including dangerous driving, assault on an emergency worker, and drug possession. They remain in police custody.
Speeding Van Runs Red Light, Causes Multi-Car Smash
The drama unfolded just before 6pm on Thursday, 10 December. A Met Roads and Transport Policing Command officer, patrolling on a motorbike, spotted a white Renault van racing through a red light. The officer gave chase as the van crashed into several cars along Whitehorse Lane.
The chase ended in Tennison Road, where the van smashed into three more vehicles before coming to a halt.
Brutal Assault on Officer During Arrest
When the officer tried to arrest the van’s driver, he was violently attacked. He was punched multiple times in the face and then kicked and punched by the van’s passenger as the suspects made a run for it.
The injured officer received immediate medical attention from paramedics and was rushed to hospital. He has since been discharged but suffered several facial injuries.
