BMW Mini Crash on Isle of Wight: Driver Critical After Being Thrown from Car

A driver remains in critical condition this morning after a dramatic crash on the Isle of Wight on Friday night. The BMW Mini flipped onto its roof on Apse Manor Road near Shanklin, throwing the driver clear of the vehicle.

Six-Hour Road Closure as Police Investigate

Apse Manor Road was shut for nearly six hours while police conducted a thorough investigation. The injured driver was stabilised at the scene before being rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport. They are now being treated for neck, face, shoulder, and arm injuries.

Seatbelt Safety Under Scrutiny

Police suspect the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, which could explain the serious injuries and why they were ejected from the car. No other vehicles are believed to be involved.

Witness Appeal Launched

Authorities have urged anyone who saw the crash to come forward. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police are expected to issue a formal appeal soon. Witnesses are asked to call 101 with any information.
