Serious Motorcycle Crash Brings Isle of Wight Road to Standstill
Emergency crews rushed to a crash between Brighstone and Shorwell this morning after a motorcyclist veered off the road and into a nearby field.
Single-Vehicle Crash Blocks Key Road
The smash happened just after 8am on Walkers Lane, at the Shorwell end of the B3399. The collision involved one motorbike that left the carriageway near Westcourt Farm.
All three emergency services were on scene swiftly. The Isle of Wight Fire Service deployed a unit from Newport to secure the area. Meanwhile, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was called in to airlift the seriously injured rider to a major trauma centre.
Traffic Chaos as Buses and School Transport Stranded
The crash caused severe disruption, with several buses stuck between the crash site and Brighstone. School buses were caught up in the gridlock too, forcing revised routes and diversions to be put in place.
Situation Now Under Control
Authorities have since cleared the scene, allowing buses to resume normal routes. Emergency teams continue to monitor the situation closely.
