Major Incident Declared After Shocking Shooting Spree
A man identified as Jack Davison has gone on a deadly rampage in Plymouth, leaving five people shot, including two women and a young child. The shooting reportedly started after a domestic dispute spiralled out of control when Davison opened fire on his neighbour before randomly targeting others in the neighbourhood.
Police have declared a major incident. Armed officers shot Davison dead after the bloody spree. The tragedy has left the community reeling as emergency services race to care for the injured.
Emergency Crews Swarm Scene as City on Lockdown
Four air ambulances descended on the North Prospect area, including two from Devon and Cornwall. Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART), paramedics, doctors and senior medical staff were all scrambled to the scene after the first shootings around 6.30pm on Thursday.
Roads are fully closed off. A nearby school was forced to shut amid fears for children’s safety, with police setting up cordons and instructing residents to stay indoors.
MPs Plead for Calm as Investigation Unfolds
Luke Pollard, Plymouth MP, urged: “Really troubling news is coming from Keeham in Plymouth. Please, can everyone stay safe and stay inside and follow the advice of the police.”
Johnny Mercer, MP for Plymouth Moor View, added: “I am aware of a serious and tragic incident unfolding. Please comply with all police instructions and do not spread rumours or speculation on social media.”
Missed Mental Health Help Sparks Fury
It has emerged that Davison had previously pleaded for a mental health assessment, but was turned away due to staffing shortages. This failure has sparked outrage, as families of victims now question why the system didn’t act sooner to prevent the carnage.
