Tragic Shooting Claims Life of 9-Year-Old Olivia in Liverpool
Olivia Pratt-Korbel, just nine years old, was fatally shot in a horrific attack in Liverpool’s Dovecot area last night. Police confirm Olivia’s family had no ties to the shooter and were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Deadly Ambush on Kingsheath Avenue
Around 10 p.m., two men were walking down Kingsheath Avenue when a masked gunman in a padded jacket confronted them. The man opened fire, sending the street into chaos.
Cheryl, Olivia’s mother, heard the commotion and stepped outside. The assailant forced his way into their home, followed by one of the men. Shots rang out inside. Tragically, Olivia was standing behind her mother and was struck in the chest—she later died at hospital. Cheryl was also injured in the shocking ordeal.
Man Shot, Friends Rush Him to Hospital as Olivia Dies
The man who entered the house with the gunman, aged 35, was also shot. Friends picked him up in a black Audi and drove him to hospital while Olivia lay dying.
Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen described the grim scene at a press conference, outlining how the lone gunman — around 5ft 7in and slim — approached and opened fire.
“We now believe two men were walking along Kingsheath Avenue when approached by a lone person dressed in black carrying a handgun,” said DCS Kameen.
“One of the men then forced his way into the property as Cheryl tried to close the door. A shot was fired, killing Olivia and injuring Cheryl.”
Community Grieves as Police Hunt Killer
The shocking murder has devastated Liverpool, especially as it comes just 15 years after Rhys Jones, 11, was killed on the city’s streets in 2007. It marks the third youth shooting death in Liverpool within a week.
Chief Constable Serena Kennedy pleaded for witnesses to step forward:
“Now is the time for our communities to reject gun violence and help us bring those responsible to justice.”
Neighbours reported hearing four gunshots. Sniffer dogs and forensic teams were on scene overnight as police cordoned off the area.
Home Secretary Priti Patel offered her condolences and vowed full support to the investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward immediately.
Labour MP Paula Barker added:
“This senseless violence must stop. The people of Liverpool are horrified and united in grief.”
The community remains in shock as they mourn little Olivia — a bright, sweet girl taken too soon in a brutal attack.
