The three-year-old girl killed in a heart-breaking collision between a van and a tram in Manchester has been named Louisa “Lulu” Palmisano.

Greater Manchester Police shared a touching photo today of Lulu, a happy toddler from Burley. What was supposed to be a fun family day out in Manchester ended in tragedy on Saturday.

Emergency crews raced to the scene but couldn’t save Lulu, who was pronounced dead following the horrific crash.

Driver Arrested Over Death by Dangerous Driving

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody as detectives dig deeper into the devastating incident near the city centre’s busy tram network.

“Louisa (Lulu) was the sweetest, kindest, and most generous little girl,” her heartbroken parents said. “She was full of creativity and joy, and absolutely loved nursery every day. Her absence has left a devastating void in our family—she was our only child, our whole world.”

Police Launch Full Investigation, Appeal for Witnesses

Chief Superintendent Emma Taylor leading the inquiry said: “This is an absolutely heartbreaking incident, and our thoughts remain with Lulu’s family during this incredibly difficult time. We are doing everything we can to support them and ensure a thorough investigation.”

She added: “We urge anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam or CCTV footage from the area to come forward. Every scrap of information could be crucial.”

Community in Shock as Tributes Pour In

The tragic news has rocked Manchester and Burley, with locals leaving flowers and toys near the crash site in a touching tribute to Lulu.

Councillor Sarah Thompson said: “This is an unimaginable tragedy. Our hearts go out to Lulu’s family. We are working with authorities to ensure they get all the support they need during this awful time.”
