Barcelona Terror Attacks: Van Hits Tourists, Second Vehicle Assault in Cambrils

Van Massacre Leaves 13 Dead in Las Ramblas

A white van ploughed into crowds in Barcelona’s bustling Las Ramblas, killing 13 people, including a child, and injuring around 100 others, with 15 critically wounded. Police have arrested two men, including Driss Oukabir, but neither is believed to be the driver. The real attacker remains on the run as terror grips Spain’s famed city centre.

Second Attack Strikes Seaside Town of Cambrils

Just hours later, a second chilling vehicle assault echoed the chaos in Cambrils, a coastal town about 75 miles southwest of Barcelona. Six innocent bystanders were injured—one critically, another seriously—before police shot dead four suspects. These men reportedly wore what looked like explosive belts during the confrontation. A fifth suspect, arrested but wounded, later died. A police officer sustained minor injuries in the counter-terror operation.

Explosions Linked to Deadly Attacks

Earlier, an explosion at a house in Alcanar, 125 miles southwest of Barcelona and 55 miles from Cambrils, killed one person and injured another. Originally thought to be a gas leak, authorities now believe it was connected to the terror plot.

Security Services Had Warned of Catalan Attack

International intelligence agencies had alerted Spanish officials to a possible terrorist strike in Catalonia, underscoring serious concerns about extremist activity in the region.

The hunt continues for the Las Ramblas driver, as Spain remains on high alert in the aftermath of these coordinated attacks.
