Police Swarm Shanklin Flat in Sudden Mystery Incident
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police are still stationed at a flat in Steephill Road, Shanklin. Officers arrived shortly after 3pm on Sunday afternoon and have maintained a heavy presence on the second floor of The Post House, a multi-occupancy block.
Residents Locked Down as Police Guard Flat
Other tenants inside the building have been told to stay indoors while two officers stand guard outside the targeted flat. Multiple police vehicles, including two vans and two cars, were spotted parked near Shanklin Theatre. The reason for the ongoing operation remains unclear.
Local Residents on Edge
“Police turned up around 3.10pm,” said one unnamed resident. “We always get police here because of some of the undesirables living in the block. This street used to be nice but it’s really gone downhill.”
Major Crime and Scene of Crime Units Join Investigation
Scene of Crime officers have taken charge of the flat, while two uniformed officers hold the perimeter. Additionally, two Major Crime Officers have arrived, signalling the incident’s serious nature.
Business Owners Fear the Worst
A nearby business owner at The 1 of Spice told us they spotted both police and an ambulance around 4pm. “Police aren’t saying anything. I just hope it’s not a murder,” they admitted.
Hampshire Police have been approached for comment but has yet to release details about the incident or confirm if anyone has been arrested.
