Brutal Attack on 87-Year-Old Eileen Sparks Four-Year Cold Case
Eileen Blane, aged 87, was savagely beaten after a thug forced his way into her Stretford home on Castleton Avenue at around 2.30pm on Friday, 3 February 2017. The attacker struck her head repeatedly before throwing her to the floor and stealing her wedding ring.
Heroic Eileen Fights Back Amid Horror
While the intruder ransacked the upstairs, Eileen bravely managed to alert her neighbours. The assault left her with horrific injuries, including broken ribs, a fractured vertebra, and severe bruising.
Although discharged from hospital a month later, Eileen was tragically found dead at home on Saturday, 1 April 2017.
Police Renew Appeal on Fourth Anniversary
As the fourth anniversary of the attack passes, detectives are still hunting for answers. They are calling on anyone with information about the violent assault to come forward.
A £50,000 reward remains on the table for any tips that lead to the conviction of the culprit.

- Wearing a dark jacket with hood covering his face
“Over the past four years GMP has been committed to trying to provide Eileen’s family with the answers they desperately need,” said Detective Chief Inspector Ben Cottam of GMP’s Major Incident Team.
“Although we cannot reunite them with Eileen, we want to ensure the person responsible faces justice.”
