Deadly Car Fire Erupts in Clarence Avenue

Families in Clapham SW4 were left reeling after a fatal fire ripped through a vehicle in the early hours of Tuesday morning, December 27. Emergency services raced to Clarence Avenue just after 2.20am following reports of a car engulfed in flames.

Firefighters and paramedics battled the blaze but tragically, a person found inside the burning car was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is yet to be confirmed.

Neighbours Woken by Horror Flames

Locals were jolted awake by the terrifying blaze. One neighbour said, “It was around 3 a.m. when I turned off the light. By 3.30 a.m., I saw flashing lights outside. Peeking out the curtain, all I could see were huge red flames coming from the house.”

Police and Fire Brigade Launch Full Investigation

The Met Police confirmed officers arrived at 2:34am after receiving multiple calls. The London Fire Brigade extinguished the fire and found the victim inside the vehicle. “The death is being treated as unexpected,” a Met spokesman said. “Further enquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances.”

Specialist fire investigators have been called in to determine what sparked the deadly blaze.
