Watch Out! Man Targeted Woman’s Card in Hove Scam

Police are hunting a man caught on camera after a brazen scam in Blatchington Road, Hove.

On Monday, May 9, just after 1pm, a woman was in her car when a man approached, warning she’d get a parking fine because an attendant had snapped a photo of her vehicle.

Thief Posed as Helper, Snatched Bank Details

The man pretended to help her at the parking meter. While she thought he was being kind, he was secretly gathering her card details on his phone.

He then claimed the machine had swallowed her card and she’d have to wait 10 minutes to get it back. But the wait was a trick.

£500 Stolen Moments Later

Half an hour later, her bank card was used to withdraw £500 at a cashpoint in the Post Office on Blatchington Road.
