A man has been arrested following an altercation involving three students at Bromley College’s Rookery Lane campus. The incident, which occurred shortly before 12:30pm on September 5, led to the recovery of a knife at the scene.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to the campus, and a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH). Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Bromley College swiftly responded to the situation, with staff quickly diffusing the altercation before police arrived. The college has since implemented additional security measures to ensure the continued safety of both staff and students.
A spokesperson for Bromley College issued a statement, reassuring the community: “We understand that this may raise anxiety and concern for parents/carers and students. We would like to provide reassurance that our community’s safety is our absolute priority.”
The college is working closely with the police as enquiries into the circumstances continue.
The Metropolitan Police also provided a statement confirming the arrest and ongoing investigation: “On Thursday, 5 September police were called to Rookery Lane, Bromley at 12:26hrs following reports of a fight. Officers attended the scene and recovered a knife. A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH. There were no reports of any injuries. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
